EKSPLORASI KOPING AKTIF PADA PENDERITA KUSTA : A QUALITATIVE METHOD

Abstract


ABSTRACT

 

Coping is where someone who is experiencing stress or psychological tension in dealing with problems of daily life that requires personal ability or support from the environment, in order to reduce the stress they face. In this study using a qualitative research design with the method of Phenomenology. The subjects in this study were leprosy sufferers in the community who experienced disabilities as a result of their illness as many as 11 participants according to table 1. Supporting instruments in this study were interviews and field notes. Interviews were conducted face-to-face, interviews conducted were in-dept interviews. The steps of data analysis in this study using Colaizzi data analysis. Participants shared the methods used to deal with anxiety and discomfort due to changes in health status with various influencing factors. identified 3 themes and 6 sub themes, namely: 1) utilizing social support; 2) spiritual activities; 3) distraction technique. Koping actively carried out by people with leprosy with disabilities to cope with their stress makes use of social support, actively participates in religious activities and shifts the focus of the mind by farming and talking with others. The expected results in this study are the basis for further research to maintain their active coping.

ABSTRAK

 

Coping adalah dimana seseorang yang mengalami stres atau ketegangan psikologi dalam menghadapi masalah kehidupan sehari-hari yang memerlukan kemampuan pribadi maupun dukungan dari lingkungan, agar dapat mengurangi stres yang dihadapinya. Pada penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian kualitatif dengan metode Fenomenologi. Subyek dalam penelitian ini adalah penderita kusta di komunitas yang mengalami kecacatan akibat dari penyakitnya sejumlah 11 partisipan sesuai tabel 1. Intrumen pendukung dalam penelitian ini adalah wawancara dan field note. Wawancara dilakukan dengan face-to-face, Wawancara yang dilakukan merupakan in-dept interview. Langkah-langkah analisa data pada penelitian ini menggunakan Analisa data Colaizzi. Partisipan menceritakan cara yang dilakukan untuk mengatasi keresahan dan ketidaknyamanan akibat perubahan status kesehatan dengan berbagai faktor yang mempengaruhi. diidentifikasi ditemukan 3 tema dan 6 sub tema, yaitu:  1) memanfaatkan dukungan sosial; 2) kegiatan spiritual; 3) tekhnik distraksi. Koping yang dilakukan secara aktif oleh penderita kusta dengan kecacatan untuk menanggulangi stress mereka memanfaatkan dukungan sosial, aktif mengikuti kegiatan keagamaan dan mengalihkan focus fikiran dengan bercocok tanam serta berbincang dengan orang lain. Hasil yang diharapkan pada penelitian ini adalah menjadi dasar penelitian selanjutnya mempertahankan koping aktif mereka.
