Abstract


Formulation And Physical Quality Stability Of Facial Gel Preparations Containing African Leaf Extract (Vernonia amygdalina dell.) With Variations In Carbopol Concentration

contain phenolic compounds including flavonoids that can wardoff free radicals. This study aims to formulate facial gel preparations from African leaf extracts to determine the stability of the physical quality of the preparations. African leaves are extracted using the maceratio method and then formulated into a facial gel made in three variations of the formula. Three gel formulas made with different carbopol concentrations are 0.5%, 1%, 2%. Physical quality testing of facial gel preparations is performed before and after the accelerated stability test (freeze thaw), including organoleptics, homogeneity tests, syneresis tests, pH tests, scatterpower tests and viscosity tests. Based on the results, formula II with 1 % carbopol concentration fulfilled almost all the requirement of the physical quality test carried out before and after the accelerated stability test excep for pH testing, for formula I with 0,5 % carbopol concentration and formula III with 2 % carbopol concentration only met homogenity,synerisis and viscosity test requirement.The result of statistical test showed the result of P>0,05 which means there is no significant difference from the test results before and after accelerateds storage.

Daun Afrika (Vernonia amygdalina Del.) merupakan tanaman yang memiliki manfaat sebagai antioksidan alami karena memiliki kandungan senyawa fenolik termasuk flavonoid yang dapat menangkal radikal bebas. Memformulasikan sediaan gel wajah dari ekstrak daun afrika dan untuk mengetahui kestabilan mutu fisik sediaan merupakan tujuan dari penelitian ini. Daun Afrika diekstraksi dengan menggunakan metode maserasi kemudian di formulasikan kedalam gel wajah yang di buat dalam 3 variasi formula. Tiga formula gel yang dibuat dengan konsentrasi carbopol yang berbeda yaitu 0,5%, 1%, 2%. Pengujian mutu fisik sediaan gel wajah dilakukan sebelum dan setelah uji stabilitas dipercepat (freeze thaw), meliputi organoleptik,  uji homogenitas, uji sineresis, uji pH, uji daya sebar serta uji viskositas. Berdasarkan hasil yang diperoleh formula II dengan konsentrasi carbopol 1% memenuhi hampir semua persyaratan uji mutu fisik yang dilakukan sebelum dan sesudah uji stabilitas dipercepat kecuali pengujian PH , untuk formula I dengan konsentrasi carbopol 0,5 %  dan formula III dengan konsentrasi carbopol 2% hanya memenuhi persyaratan uji homogenitas, sinerisis dan viskositas. Hasil uji statistik menunjukkan hasil P> 0,05 yang berarti tidak ada perbedaan yang signifikan dari hasil pengujian sebelum dan sesudah penyimpanan dipercepat.
