Abstract


Formulation Of Dental Pass With Active Herbal Leaf Extract Combination Of Red Betel Leaf (Piper crocatum Ruiz & Pav.) and Mint (Mentha piperita) Leaf Extract As Anti-Microbial On The Tooth And Mouth

Bacteria are normal flora in the oral cavity, including Streptococcus mutans, when there is an increase in population, it causes the formation of dental caries. Various ways are done to prevent the formation of dental caries, namely the use of toothpaste to inhibit the bacteria that cause dental caries. This study aims to make a toothpaste with the active ingredients of red betel leaf extract in combination with mint leaf extract. The research sample was red betel leaf and mint leaf obtained in Lajoa Kab. Soppeng and Makassar city, the extract was obtained by means of sample extraction by Maceration using 70 %v/v ethanol. The extracts were tested for heavy metal contamination, moisture content, total ash content and acid insoluble ash content. Toothpaste is made with a variety of active ingredients formulas: F1 (Ex. SM 20 %), F2 (Ex. DM 20 %), F3 (Ex. SM 10% and Ex. DM 10 %), F4 (Ex. SM 15% ) and Ex. DM 5 %), F5 (Ex. SM 5 % and Ex. DM 15 %) and F6 (+). Physical Quality Testing: Organoleptic, Homogeneity, pH, and Viscosity. The results showed that the quality of the extract met the requirements of FH. Physical quality test Toothpaste, statistically analyzed showed no significant difference with variations in sample concentration and storage time (p>0.05) meaning all formulas met the physical quality requirements.

Bakteri merupakan flora normal di rongga mulut antara lain Streptococcus mutans, bila terjadi peningkatan populasi menyebabkan terbentuknya karies gigi. Berbagai cara dilakukan untuk mencegah terbentuknya karies gigi yaitu penggunaan pasta gigi untuk menghambat bakteri penyebab karies gigi.  Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuat pasta gigi dengan bahan aktif ekstrak daun Sirih merah kombinasi ekstrak daun Mint. Sampel penelitian adalah daun sirih merah dan daun mint diperoleh di Lajoa Kab. Soppeng dan kota Makassar, ekstrak diperoleh dengan cara ekstraksi sampel secara Maserasi menggunakan etanol 70 %v/v.  Ekstrak diuji cemaran logam berat, kadar air, kadar abu total dan kadar abu yang tidak larut asam. Pasta gigi di buat dengan variasi bahan aktif formula: F1 (Eks. SM 20 %), F2 ( Eks. DM 20 % ), F3 (Eks. SM 10 % dan Eks. DM 10 %), F4 (Eks. SM 15 % dan Eks. DM 5 %),F5 (Eks. SM 5 % dan Eks. DM 15 %) dan F6 (+). Pengujian Mutu fisik : Organoleptis, Homogenitas,  pH, dan Viskositas. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa kualitas ekstrak memenuhi syarat FH. Pengujian mutu fisik Pasta gigi,dianalisis statistik  menunjukkan tidak ada perbedaan  bermakna dengan Variasi konsentrasi sampel dan lama penyimpanan (p>0.05) berarti semua formula memenuhi syarat mutu fisik.
