Abstract

Myofascial Pain Syndrome (MPS) is the leading cause of nonspecific neck pain and is defined as the formation of hyperirritable nodules in tight muscle bands, resulting in pain, functional disability, and decreased range of motion. Myofascial trigger points (MTrPs) have an increased prevalence in the postural muscles of the upper extremities and most commonly in the trapezius muscle due to its major role in neck mobility and stability. Trigger points in the upper trapezius cause pain and loss of function and lead to changes in vascular, electromyographic, and metabolic muscle; therefore, proper diagnosis and treatment are essential. This community service will be carried out in Berua Village, Biringkanaya District, Makassar City. Pain due to myofascial pain syndrome is measured using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS). Community service with the theme of the application of Hold Relax and interference to reduce pain in Myofascial Pain Syndrome in Berua Village, Biringkanaya District, Makassar, is a follow-up to the research entitled The Effect of Hold Relax and Interference on Reducing Pain, Increasing ROM, and Reducing Muscle Spasms in Myofascial Pain Syndrome. Community service is planned to be held from March 2024–September 2024. The intervention that will be given to patients with myofascial pain syndrome is Hold Relax and interference 2 times a week for 2 months or until the expected target is reached.
